Mark Blundell will make his debut as the driver representative in the FIA stewards’ room this weekend in Spain.

The 45-year-old Briton stood on the podium three times as he contested 61 grands prix, most recently with McLaren in 1995.

He also won three Champ Car races and the fabled Le Mans race, and for years was a television pundit for ITV’s British coverage of F1.

He now races occasionally in sports cars and heads the 2MB sports management company, which handles McLaren test driver Gary Paffett.
