Jenson Button criticised fellow champion Michael Schumacher after their on-track battle in the Spanish grand prix.

Mercedes’ Schumacher defended hard for many laps as McLaren’s quicker Button looked to overtake in Barcelona.

But it was the returning seven time world champion’s behaviour into turn one following his British rival’s pitstop that drew Button’s ire.

"He turned in and if I didn’t back out of it, we would’ve crashed," the reigning world champion told reporters after the race.

Button added: "You would think with his experience, he would know ..."

Unsurprisingly, Schumacher was unapologetic.

"I’m pretty sure it’s been rather frustrating for him and exciting for me," said the German.
