Ferrari won the season-long race to become the fastest pitcrew in formula one.

That is the finding of Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport, revealing that although Red Bull and Mercedes performed the fastest single pitstops in 2013, Italian marque Ferrari’s crew performed consistently the quickest over the entire calendar.

And the same German magazine reported recently that Ferrari was the only team that got through every grand prix of the year without a single technical failure.

The report said the average speed of Ferrari’s 89 pitstops in 2013 was 2.78 seconds, significantly faster than Mercedes’ 2.95.

World champions Red Bull came in third, a hundredth of a second behind Mercedes.

McLaren’s average pitstop in 2013 took 3.18 seconds, the analysis added.
