It has been reported that Ferrari will run development drivers Jules Bianchi and Davide Rigon at next month’s Magny-Cours Young Driver Test, after it was officially confirmed that the Scuderia would run at the French circuit instead of the usual Abu Dhabi location.
With Ferrari rumored to be joined at the test by Mercedes and Force India, Jules Bianchi could find himself testing for two teams throughout the duration of the test, with the Frenchman not only a Ferrari development driver but also Force India’s reserve driver. Bianchi has so far partaken in six Friday practice sessions for the Silverstone-based outfit, as well also running in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series for Tech 1 Racing.
Davide Rigon has raced in the GP2 Series in recent years, however the Italian driver broke his ankle during an incident at the Turkish round last season. This injury left him without a drive for the remainder of the season, however he has since strengthened his partnership with Ferrari has has carried out numerous simulator work for the Scuderia.
The Young Driver Test at Magny-Cours gives Ferrari a perfect opportunity to test these two up-and-coming drivers, with the Italian outfit currently rumored to be deciding on their future driver line-up, with Felipe Massa most likely set to depart from the team at the end of the season. Many drivers have been linked to what would become a vacancy within the team, and both Jules Bianchi and Davide Rigon are possible drivers who could team-mate Fernando Alonso in the future.
