Jerez Test: Barrichello stays on top

As the session comes to an end

Rubens Barrichello ended Jerez four-day test session with the fastest time.

The Brazilian lapped under the 1’20 barrier this morning and his fastest time remained unchallenged this afternoon as the conditions worsened.

The weather was overcast in the morning and it started to rain at around 4pm. It just dampened the track at first but got heavier in the closing moments of the session. Only Alonso, Buemi, Rosberg and Barrichello took the opportunity to test the intermediate and wet Pirelli tyres before the chequered flag.

Team Lotus is still suffering from reliability problems on its T128. Kovalainen had to interrupt his work during the afternoon as his car had a water leak.

Bruno Senna also lost some track time because of a technical problem on the Lotus Renault R31.

Force India’s Paul di Resta had a spin.
