Robert Kubica will be back on his two feet in a few weeks, doctors at his Italian hospital said on Friday.
After Renault team boss Eric Boullier said the Polish driver is "ahead of schedule" with his recovery from horror rally injuries, the Santa Corona hospital in Italy concurred that Kubica’s condition "continues to improve".
26-year-old Kubica recently had further surgery to his elbow to restore functionality, and the hospital said rehabiliation to his hand, shoulder and lower limb is also continuing.
"There will now be another period of waiting while the multiple fractures heal," Italian media reports quoted from an official medical bulletin.
"We are thinking in terms of starting him walking, weight-bearing on both legs, in roughly three weeks," the bulletin added.
