Former F1 driver Jaime Alguersuari’s motor racing career has come to a halt for now.

In June, the ex-Toro Rosso racer had to step out of his Formula E cockpit following a fainting episode after the race in Moscow.

"As a consequence," the Spaniard said in a statement, "my license was temporarily suspended because the FIA commission wanted to delve into medical research."

Alguersuari, who last raced in F1 in 2011 and is now 25, revealed that he underwent medical tests throughout July but "there has not been a medical resolution".

"For this reason I need to announce that, unfortunately, I will not be able to take part in the FIA Formula E championship for the 2015-16 season with my team DS Virgin Racing," he added.
