French motorsport legend Alain Prost is set to return to the track where he won the 1983 French Grand Prix. Rather than taking a comfortable seat in the stands, however, the four-time world champion will be at the controls of the Renault F1 that he drove to victory at the Paul Ricard all those years ago, to the delight of the fans.

Prost, who now drives a Dacia in the Trophée Andros ice-racing series, will not be the only member of his family on the track, with his son Nicolas joining him in the Lotus Renault GP R30 for the traditional Formula One show.

"This is a wonderful story that were able to write thanks to Renault", said Prost Jr, a member of the Gravity Management stable.

"What a twist of fate to find myself back on the track with my father; him at the wheel of the F1 car I saw him drive and me at the wheel of a Lotus Renault GP. It will be an emotional occasion but it will also be very interesting to see two totally different Formula One cars, built 27 years apart, perform alongside each other. Like everyone else, I can’t wait."
