Q&A with Alan Permane (Lotus Renault GP)

After Day 1 in Spain

Chargement ...

How was Friday for the team?

It was a reasonably routine Friday for us apart from running a slightly different programme to help us understand the new hard Pirelli tyre.

How did you evaluate this new compound?

We ran both drivers with high and low fuel loads on the hard tyres to get as much information as possible from this new compound, and it did indeed provide us with some useful data.

Do you have any strategy thoughts going into Sunday?

The hard tyre should allow fewer pit stops, but the soft is much quicker over one lap, so we will have to see.

Did the team encounter any problems today?

We had some small issues with the KERS on Vitaly’s car, but we are confident we can get to the bottom of the problem and have it working effectively for tomorrow.

What conclusions can be drawn from today?

Both drivers were reasonably happy with their cars today, but I am sure there is more improvement to come from the car once we have been through all the data.
