F1 will always have a place in Austria

Rumours continue to swirl around the future of Red Bull in formula one.

The former world champions are struggling so far in 2015, pointing fingers at engine supplier Renault but also grappling with chassis issues.

At the same time, the energy drink company is threatening to pull out of the sport.

The threats follow hot on the heels of claims Dietrich Mateschitz, Red Bull’s billionaire mogul, might be shaping up to bid for the sport’s commercial rights.

He is already the promoter of a grand prix at the Red Bull Ring, telling Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper on Friday that F1 will "always have a place in Austria".

And speculation that Mateschitz - with his broadcaster Servus TV - might also bid for the television rights to formula one in Austria has now emerged.

He doesn’t rule that out, despite admitting: "I think (existing broadcaster) ORF will renew."
