Jean-Francois Caubet is stepping down as engine supplier Renault’s F1 boss. Caubet is retiring, to be replaced by Renault Sport’s president Jean-Michel Jalinier. Caubet, whose last race was in Abu Dhabi last weekend, started work at Renault in the 70s.
Jean-François Caubet oversaw Renault Sport F1 in his capacity as managing director, taking responsibility for commercial affairs and the smooth link between the Renault board and F1 activities.
Jean-François joined the Renault Group in the 1970s, working in purchasing and finance before becoming executive secretary for Renault’s industrial relations in 1985. In 1990 he moved to the communications and marketing department as brand manager before being promoted to head of public relations in 1992, a post he occupied for eight years. When Renault reentered F1 he became marketing and communications director for the Renault F1 Team and ultimately managing director in 2009.
Jean-François oversaw the creation of Renault Sport F1 in 2010 and has guided the company to become F1’s most successful engine supplier with four teams to its credit.
