Reigning World Champion Sebastian Vettel has stated how he is unhappy after a mediocre Spanish Grand Prix, only three weeks after the German driver won for the first time in 2012 at Bahrain. Vettel eventually ended the race 6th, after receiving a drive-through penalty for ignoring yellow flags and a unusual lack of pace from the team.
Although Sebastian Vettel was able to pass the two McLaren’s and Nico Rosberg towards the end of the race, Red Bull still suffered an unusually uncompetitive race, with Mark Webber failing to pass Nico Hulkenberg and subsequently failing to score any points.
“It was difficult race and a hard day in the office.” Explained Sebastian Vettel, “I’m not entirely happy, we could have finished maybe one position higher up, but we had a good recovery in the end. I don’t know what the problem was when we had to change the nose of the car; I wasn’t sure if I had damage or something stuck at the front – maybe a piece of rubber or something.”
These front wing issues also plagued Mark Webber, who was the first of the two drivers to change his front wing. However, although Red Bull only scored eight World Championship points in the race, the Austrian outfit will still head to the Monaco Grand Prix leading both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships.
