A warm morning has dawned in Valencia ahead of Sunday’s European grand prix.

Shortly after 9am, less than five hours before the starting lights go out, the temperature is already 24 degrees, with the Spanish port city heading for a top of 29.

Many German and British paddock occupants are hoping for a straightforward race, as the countries limber up for kick-off in South Africa.

Their knockout round of the World Cup is scheduled to begin around the time of F1’s chequered flag.

"It’s always exciting playing Germany - I’m looking forward to it," said Jenson Button.
