Pirelli says it wants more experienced F1 drivers to do its tyre testing.

"We always ask the teams to appoint drivers with experience for the tests," Mario Isola told the Spanish newspaper AS.

For instance, Fernando Alonso did some tyre testing for Pirelli recently, but the Spaniard is currently practicing for the Indy 500.

He had a big crash on Wednesday but was unhurt.

"We were lucky and very happy to have such an experienced driver help us," Isola said when asked about Alonso’s recent Pirelli testing in a McLaren.

"I understand that young drivers also have to get in the car, but for a tyre test it is very difficult to get the feedback we need," the Pirelli boss added.
