The FIA World Touring Car Championship, WTCC, will contest the fifth and sixth races of the 2013 season in Slovakia this coming weekend, the 28th of April. Behind the wheel of the Honda Civic, Tiago Monteiro will attempt to bounce back from the bad luck he experienced in Morocco just two weeks ago.
Inaugurated in 2009, the FIA WTCC only introduced the Slovakia Ring into the Championship last year. It is located 40 kilometers from the capital, Bratislava, and was a pleasant surprise for the majority of drivers on their first visit. In 2012, Tiago Monteiro qualified in the top 6 on both starting grids and is now preparing for his return with optimism and confidence. "This is a very interesting track and allows for some very exciting races. It is a very complete circuit with long straights, curves, and several direction changes," said Monteiro. "The configuration requires having a powerful engine but also a highly efficient chassis."
Tiago is eager to get his season back on track and demonstrate the competitiveness of the Honda Civic that will run on the Slovakia Ring for the first time this weekend. "I’m curious to see where we are. The first race of the season took place at Monza, a very fast track and the second in Morocco, on a street circuit. This weekend we will find a more conventional circuit," says Tiago. "We know that our car will be well suited to certain parts of the circuit, less to others."
Tiago Monteiro is hoping to secure two good results in Slovakia and boost his season... "First, we will focus on qualifying. As for the races, I want to get two good results and I am confident that we have the car to get there."
