Hannes Danzinger wants to do more than just preserve his lead of the FIA ERC 2WD Championship when the series resumes in Latvia next month.

The ace Austrian seized the title initiative with class victory on the season-opening International Jännerrallye in his homeland recently.

“Of course one of the targets will be to keep my lead but it will be the first time for me driving in conditions like we will have in Latvia with full snow [on gravel],” said Danzinger. “I have done the Jännerrallye in snow and ice before but this will be something different, something new and it will be good to learn and get the experience.”

Danzinger, who competes in a Renault Clio R3, will face opposition from several rivals in the two-wheel-drive category on Rally Liepāja-Ventspils from 1-3 February.
