Bruno Magalhães has said his retirement from third position on the final morning of Sata Rallye Açores has left him extremely frustrated.
The 31-year-old former event winner was holding the final podium spot when the rear differential support of his Peugeot Sport Portugal 207 Super 2000 failed on stage 13 and forced his early exit from the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier.
“It was the support of the rear differential that broke and it was almost on the ground,” he said. "There was nothing we could do and one more time it is bad luck when we are fighting for the podium. The podium was our goal for this rally but one more time I have to stop and it’s very difficult to accept."
He continued: “It’s frustrating because everybody is supporting me in my country with a good opportunity to make a very good result and to show my pace but this happens.”
Despite his retirement Magalhães remains in the top 10 of the IRC drivers’ standings.
