Multiple Intercontinental Rally Challenge event winner Freddy Loix insists turning 41 won’t slow him down.

Loix celebrated his 41st birthday in his native Belgium last week. Although he has yet to finalise his programme for 2012 he says he has no intention of easing off the throttle.

“I’m working very hard to stay fit and I’m doing a lot to be quick”, said Loix, known affectionately as Fast Freddy by his many fans around the world. “I was very happy with my time on the long 44-kilometre stage in the night on Rallye Sanremo earlier this season when I was fastest. I still feel I have the speed, I have the experience, which is also important and I am still in good shape.”

Loix drove his BFO-SKODA Rally Team Fabia Super 2000 to fourth in the final IRC standings this season. He claimed a solitary win on June’s GEKO Ypres Rally alongside co-driver Frederic Miclotte, his seventh success on the demanding asphalt event.
