Andreas Aigner will prepare for his IRC Production Cup push in Cyprus next week by taking part on this weekend’s Rallye Waldviertel in his native Austria.
Aigner, who will pilot the course-opening zero car, is using the event to get ready for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge finale from 2-4 November.
Like the Cyprus Rally, the Austrian event features mixed-surface stages: “For sure the temperatures won’t be hot like they will be in Cyprus but the roads will be similar in some places so it’s a good warm-up for Cyprus,” said Stohl Racing ace Aigner, currently 22 points Robert Consani in the IRC Production Cup standings.
Aigner will use a diesel-powered Subaru Impreza for Rallye Waldviertel. The winner of a competition arranged by one of his commercial partners, Samsung Austria, will co-drive in place of Aigner’s regular navigator Ilka Minor.
