"There is a noise from the transmission"

Andreas Aigner admits he’s worried about being able to preserve his lead in the IRC Production Cup after reaching the regroup in Corte with a possible transmission problem in his Subaru Impreza R4 STI.

Despite holding an advantage of almost 55s over IRC Production Cup champion and fellow Subaru driver Toshi Arai, Aigner fears he will have to reduce his pace to get through the day-closing, 24.57-kilometre Erabajolo-Pont d’Altiani stage, which is being shown live on Eurosport, in order to complete the run and make it to service.

“There is a noise from the transmission and a vibration in the gear lever so I am quite worried,” said Aigner. “We can’t locate what the problem is – we must try to get through the next stage and hopefully get to service. It was not a problem on the stages before, it just happened after we completed the last stage.”
