Nasser Al-Attiyah will contest six rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this season.

The Qatari driver had already confirmed his participation on round three of the series, Rally Argentina, in March but will now also enter the rounds in Sardinia, Açores, Zlín (Czech Republic), Sanremo (Italy) and Scotland.

He will drive a Škoda Fabia S2000 for the Belgian René Georges Rally Sport where he will link up with the squad’s other recent signing, Freddy Loix.

A statement from René Georges Rally Sport said: “A few days ago we had the great news that Nasser Al-Attiyah will contest Rally Argentina with the René Georges Rally Sport team as a result of the negotiations between Raouf Menhem [Al-Attiyah’s manager] and René Georges himself. We can now add Sardinia, Azores, Barum [Zlín], Sanremo and Scotland to the programme.”

Al-Attiyah is a six-time winner of the Middle East Rally Championship. He also finished second on the Dakar Rally, run between Argentina and Chile, in January.
