Toshi Arai would not rule out taking part in more World Touring Car Championship events in the future following his debut in the series at Suzuka in his native Japan last month.

Arai, the winner of the inaugural IRC Production Cup in a Subaru Impreza R4 STI, drove a factory Chevrolet Cruz to 13th in race one and 15th in the second race of the weekend. Yokohama, the tyre supplier to the WTCC and Arai’s Subaru team, arranged his participation.

“It was fun and not so different from the Tarmac rallies I have done”, said Arai. “Qualifying was not easy but I enjoyed the races. I hope I can do some more races, but special races like in Japan and maybe China where it is important for Yokohama.”
