Irish driver Robert Barrable is planning to contest selected rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this season.

The 23-year-old from Swords, near Dublin, is a one-make rally champion in the UK and Ireland. He has bought a Skoda Motorsport Fabia Super 2000 used by Jan Kopecky on selected rounds of the IRC in 2010 and is planning to enter the Geko Ypres Rally in June and October’s RACMSA Rally of Scotland.

Barrable, who completed a short systems check in the Fabia in Czech Republic recently, was only due to take delivery of the car for the first time yesterday (Wednesday), but was planning to use it on the
opening round of the British Rally Championship this Saturday.

He told Motorsport News in the UK: “I’ve bought this car as part of a two-year plan. This year we’re going to run in the BRC as well as doing Ypres and Rally of Scotland and then we’ll do some more events abroad next year. I feel going to S2000 now is the way forward for the future.”
