Mehdi Bennani took his turn in the FIA World Touring Car Championship spotlight by going fastest in official WTCC testing at Vallelunga this afternoon.
The WTCC Trophy-chasing Sébastien Loeb Racing driver’s 1m37.000s effort eclipsed José María López’s 1m37.348s set in the morning. And there was more good news for the team co-founded by motorsport legend Sébastien Loeb when Tom Chilton went second quickest on his first try of his new-for-2016 Citroën C-Elysée WTCC.
Thed Björk was third fastest in his factory Volvo S60 Polestar TC1, which is going up against its WTCC rivals for the first time. Norbert Michelisz was fourth in his works Honda with Yvan Muller the top official Citroën runner in fifth and Fredrik Ekblom sixth for Polestar Cyan Racing.
