The Japanese make was in action at the 5.345-kilometre MotorLand Aragón track near Zaragoza where Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team stars Tiago Monteiro and Gabriele Tarquini were working on upping the performance of the squad’s Civic WTCC.

“It was very hot but we did a lot of laps and it was very productive – there was 100 per cent motivation from all the Castrol Honda crew,” said Monteiro.

Gabriele Tarquini, the 2009 WTCC champion, said: “We were working with the engineers trying to develop a lot the car to increase our performance.”

Monteiro and Tarquini will be flying the Honda flag in JVC KENWOOD WTCC Race of Japan at Twin Ring Motegi from 11-13 September.
