Ken Block is relishing his return to Wales Rally GB next week citing it as one of the events that first attracted him to the sport.

Block, the star of the Gymkhana online videos, will drive a Monster World Rally Team Ford Fiesta RS WRC on the world championship finale from 10-13 November.

“In all the years I was watching WRC on television I enjoyed watching Rally GB and the history there,” said the American. “I can remember Petter Solberg winning the title [in 2003] and, of course, Colin McRae. There’s a lot of nostalgia for me with all those memories so going over there to compete and experience all of that is very cool for me, especially as an American.”

A mechanical fault prevented Block from going further than day two when he took part on the event for the first time last season. He can’t wait for the event to get underway next Thursday.

“Some of the classic stages I’ve driven are amazing and I really enjoyed my experience there last year,” said Block. “The one down side is I don’t particularly enjoy driving in the mud. When the conditions vary I don’t have as much experience. It’s a little tougher but it’s just one more thing I need to work on and get better at.”
