Campos WTCC stars leave Argentina empty handed

A frustrating weekend for Valente

Campos Racing drivers John Filippi and Hugo Valente came, saw but didn’t quite conquer when the 2015 FIA World Touring Car Championship got underway in Argentina last week.

Filippi was classified 12th in race two following his collision-induced retirement from the opening 13-lapper, while fellow French young gun Valente was a non-starter in race two after he crashed out of the opening event in his Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1.

It proved a frustrating weekend for Valente, who was unable to take part in qualifying following his crash in free practice on Saturday morning. The incident required his Campos Racing mechanics to work through the night in order to ready the car for race day, albeit to no avail.

Filippi, who was competing in a new-generation TC1 car for the first time, had finished ahead of four-time WTCC champion Yvan Muller in race two but he was demoted a place after being handed a 30-second penalty for a driving error behind the safety car.
