At least 13 Super 2000 cars are set to contest the fourth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge later this month.

With just under a week to go until entries for Rally Islas Canarias close, interest in the Tarmac event continues to grow following confirmation that Austrian Franz Wittmann will take part in his Interwetten Racing Peugeot 207 Super 2000.

Wittmann’s entry brings the total number of Peugeots in action on the island rally to seven with Bruno Magalhães, Kris Meeke, Thierry Neuville and Daniel Oliveira, plus local drivers David Perez and Jonathan Perez, all set to use the French machine.

Škoda will also be strongly represented on the IRC qualifier too. In addition to factory drivers Juho Hänninen and Jan Kopecký, Škoda UK Motorsport will field a Fabia S2000 for Guy Wilks with Spanish asphalt expert Alberto Hevia also due to line up in one of the Czech cars.

Two M-Sport Ford Fiesta S2000s are also due to appear on the entry for Alvaro Muniz and Sergio Vallejo.
