Burcu Çetinkaya says she is relishing the prospect of going up against 24 other Super 2000 cars on the Geko Ypres Rally this week, even though she concedes the increased competition is likely to rule out a points finish on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier.

Çetinkaya, who will be using a Yokohama-shod Peugeot Sport Turkey 207 S2000 for her third start in Ypres, is taking part on seven rounds of this year’s IRC alongside co-driver Çiçek Güney.

“It’s very exciting to be doing this rally,” said the 29-year-old from Istanbul. “Of course you have more chance if there are less cars but I don’t agree with that. The fact there are so many cars in the N4 class means there is great competition and it’s only when you have great competition that you can really improve. For me, this season, is all about gaining experience and improving all of the time.”
