Burcu Çetinkaya says she is pleased with her performance on her return to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, despite languishing outside of the top 20 after five stages of RACMSA Rally of Scotland in her ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000.

Çetinkaya, who last took part on an IRC event in November 2010, hasn’t driven a Fabia in competition before and only managed a short pre-event test. However, the Turkish driver said she was satisfied that she had been able to up her pace on each stage this morning.

“It’s been very difficult in the conditions and also because it’s been a long time since I last drove,” said the Istanbul resident. “I’ve been struggling a lot but I am getting faster and faster and this is good for the [next IRC round in] Cyprus.”
