Burcu Çetinkaya has described Rali Vinho Madeira as the hardest asphalt event she has tackled so far in her career after completing the opening leg of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge round in 20th overall.

The Peugeot Sport Turkey driver, in her first season competing in the IRC, said: “It has been difficult getting confidence with the pacenotes especially on this rally, which is very hard, and also because there was a lot of local traffic on the roads when we were doing the recce and this made it difficult for the lines.

“My car has been fine but it has been very difficult today, not just mentally but also physically.”
