Tom Chilton doesn’t want to wait so long to return to the top step of the podium in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

Chilton’s victory at WTCC Race of Argentina on 7 August was his first since he placed P1 in the opening WTCC Race of China-Beijing on 5 October 2014, a gap of one year, 10 months and two days.

Now the British driver is hoping for more instant success at WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan this weekend (2-4 September).

“I had a fantastic weekend in Termas de Río Hondo and hope to extend my good form in Japan,” said the Sébastien Loeb Racing Citroën privateer. “At the moment I’m consistently racing at the front, mainly down to getting more familiar with the car.”

As well as chasing overall success, Chilton is still in the hunt for the WTCC Trophy for independent racers. Ahead of the Twin Ring Motegi weekend, Chilton is 23 points behind his Moroccan team-mate Mehdi Bennani.
