Thierry Neuville has said he was “very happy” after receiving the Colin McRae IRC Flat Out Trophy following his impressive run to third place on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés earlier today.
Neuville, 22, was chosen as the winner by the panel consisting of Colin’s father Jimmy McRae, Jean-Pierre Nicolas, the IRC Motorsport Development Manager, and Gilbert Roy, the Director of Editorial and Programme Development for Eurosport Events.
“I am very happy to receive this prize,” said Neuville. “Colin was an idol to me so I am very happy after showing a good pace all weekend.”
Nicolas, who made the presentation in Las Palmas, said: “Thierry was the revelation of this rally and I think this is the start of a big future in the rally world for him after he fought at a very top level all weekend.”
