Consani on course for double title joy

Providing he finishes then he will grow is lead in both divisions

Why win one title when you can win two? Robert Consani is on course to do just that starting day two of Rallye Sanremo, the penultimate round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Consani is one of few drivers in action eligible for both the IRC Production Cup and the IRC 2WD Cup in the Renault Mégane RS he shares with co-driver and fellow Frenchman Nicolas Klinger.

He started the Italian asphalt event on top of the standings in both the IRC Production Cup and IRC 2WD Cup. After four stages in Sanremo, Consani is second to Federico Gasperetti – in a similar Mégane RS – in the IRC Production Cup and fifth in the IRC 2WD Cup.

Providing he finishes then he will grow is lead in both divisions heading to the season finale in Cyprus next month.

However, because Consani will have to revert to his Renault Clio R3 for the island rally – his Mégane is not homologated for use on gravel – scoring as many points as possible in the IRC Production Cup in Italy is vital in his efforts to win both titles.
