Tom Coronel has vowed to never give up hope of FIA World Touring Car Championship success – providing he still has a chance to shine.

Dutchman Coronel is one of the WTCC’s longest-serving drivers having made his first appearance in the series in 2005.

While he has yet to finalise his 2016 campaign, Coronel has revealed how he copes with any on-track disappointments competing as a privateer.

“With the package I have I am making other people heroes, it’s quite simple,” he said. “ But I can take my moment of fame as I have always been doing all my life. My first race I won in the WTCC I stated in P18 and I won the race. My chances are less than others but I have chances. As long as I have chances I will be there.”

He continued: “Last year I did one podium, the year before three podiums and with the swapped grid [rule] there are chances. Those are the moments of fame I have to focus on and on the other side I will focus on making my sponsors happy by making as much noise as possible, which normally is not a big problem for me!”

Coronel plans to be on the grid when Circuit Paul Ricard hosts rounds one and two of the 2016 WTCC from 1-3 April.
