Reigning IRC 2WD Cup champion Harry Hunt has been delayed on stage 11 of Tour de Corse-E.Leclerc after hitting a bridge, which he believes may have damaged his car’s braking system.
Hunt lost more than three minutes in the stage as he nursed the car to the finish with no brakes. He now faces a race against time to fix the battered machine for the next stage, the 22.27-kilometre Marato-Acqua Doria test, which the competitors all have to tackle before returning to service in Ajaccio.
“It’s really annoying,” said the 22-year-old Briton. “I hit a bridge with the front of the car and that appears to have damaged the brakes somehow. We’re going to try and fix it before the next stage, but it’s not good.”
Corsican Pierre-Antoine Guglielmi continues to lead the two-wheel drive category in 14th overall. Guy Fiori is second.
