Drivers and co-drivers contesting the Geko Ypres Rally, round six of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, gathered to remember Gareth Roberts during a short ceremony in the town’s market square today.
Roberts lost his life competing on last week’s Targa Florio-Rally Internazionale Di Sicilia alongside co-driver Craig Breen.
A board with words of remembrance was displayed followed by a short period of silence as competitors paid their respects to the hugely popular and talented member of the IRC community.
Cars contesting this week’s event are also carrying tribute stickers in memory of Roberts, while a video showing Roberts and Breen competing on three rounds of this year’s IRC is now available at ircseries.com.
