Leading co-drivers Sabrina de Castelli and Carlos del Barrio have praised the format of this year’s Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse, the fourth round of the 2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge season, due to the sense of adventure the roving route created.

The event featured 14 stages over a competitive distance of 318 kilometres with visits to key island locations Ajaccio, Calvi, Corte and Bastia.

Del Barrio, who navigated Dani Sordo to overall victory in a MINI John Cooper Works S2000, said: “This format is very open-minded and I like it very much. It brings the rally to the spectators because it passes through all areas and this is very good for the rally because there are not many places that you can have this.”

Third-placed co-driver de Castelli added: “It has been a long time since Tour de Corse has been in the north of the island. For the people it’s very important.”
