Robert Dahlgren emerged as the fastest driver in this morning’s warm up session, proving that the Hungaroring suits very well his normally-aspirated Volvo C30 car.
The Swedish driver clocked an impressive 1:56.430 that was more than one tenth faster than Alain Menu’s pole position time from Saturday’s qualifying.
Rob Huff recovered from the disappointing qualifying result and posted the second fastest lap, (1:56.885) nearly half-a-second slower than the Volvo. Yvan Muller (1:57.214) was third fastest ahead of Norbert Michelisz (1:57.276) and Javier Villa (1:57.496).
The SUNRED León 1.6 turbo cars continued to improve and Michel Nykjær was able to make the top ten with a lap of 1:58.051.
Wiechers-Sport’s Urs Sonderegger did not to take part in the session. Following the crash he had during yesterday’s second free practice, the Swiss drivers decided not to race because of a persistent backache.
