Robert Dahlgren and his Volvo C30 clocked the fastest lap in this morning’s warm up session. Under a cloudy sky that threatens rain, the Swedish racer proved that his car has the pace to fight for top positions. First he completed a lap of 1:37.358, beating Yvan Muller’s 1:37.688, and then improved further to 1:37.231 and finally to 1:37.206.
Eventually Gabriele Tarquini and Colin Turkington set the second and third fastest lap of 1:37.614 and 1:37.620 respectively.
These results promise a lot of excitement for today’s races, especially because Tarquini and Dahlgren will be forced to recover as they take the start from the 11th and 19th positions respectively.
The Italian missed the chance to make the top-ten in yesterday’s qualifying when he was stopped for checks at the weighing bay, while the Swede spoiled his last attempt with a mistake at McLean’s bend.
