The battle for IRC 2WD Cup honours on Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse has been turned on its head following a dramatic sixth stage.

Emmanuel Guigou suffered a heavy crash while leading in his Renault Mégane RS, while overnight pacesetter Pierre-Antoine Guglielmi, the IRC 2WD Cup winner in Corsica last season, also retired when the engine in his Clio R3 caught fire.

Their misfortune leaves Petru Antone Boschetti at the top of the classification in his Clio R3 with rallying legend François Delecour in second place, 56.8s adrift at the wheel of another Mégane.

Harry Hunt’s fastest time through stage seven keeps the former IRC 2WD Cup champion in the fight for the final podium spot in fifth overall. The Briton is one place ahead of Austrian newcomer Michael Kogler.
