Franz Engstler posted the best lap in the Yokohama Trophy that is now reserved for the TC2T cars.

The German driver and his BMW car run by the Liqui Moly Team Engstler posted the 15th fastest lap overall, beating Peter Fulín’s SEAT León – that crashed towards the end of Q1.
Engstler’s team-mate Pasquale Di Sabatino qualified third, while Fulín’s team-mate John Filippi missed the whole qualifying session due to an engine failure.

Engstler commented: “First of all I’m happy to still be part of the World Touring Car Championship. I’m also happy to be on pole position for the TC2T class and the Yokohama Trophy. The difference in speed between our car and those of the new TC1 generation is quite impressive, and we have to look in our rear view mirrors a lot more than we had to in the past.”
