Yvan Muller can make it five FIA World Touring Car Championship titles in 2015 – not that he’s letting the pressure of the occasion get to him.
The Citroën Racing driver, runner-up to team-mate José María López in last year’s WTCC, says he’s staying calm ahead of the new season getting underway in Argentina this weekend when he hopes to get this championship bid off to a flying start.
“I’m in a good frame of mind,” said the Frenchman. “I feel calm and I don’t feel any pressure. I can’t wait to get going. It’s been a long winter. I’ve thought a lot about last season and about what I needed to change to get back to my best. I’m confident about the improvements made to the car, and the team has a year’s experience behind it now, which will be invaluable in helping us hit the ground running.”
Muller, who has trained extensively during the winter in order to be in the best shape possible for 2015, continued: “Being world champion is not easy. Unfortunately last year I couldn’t keep my title but I want to fight again for a fifth title. We can’t be unbeatable and I am still the vice-champion. I hope to fight again for the title but to be world champion is not easy.”
