Davide Catania plans to come out ‘fighting’ when he contests up to six rounds of the IRC 2WD Cup in 2012.

The Italian has chosen the IRC 2WD Cup to take advantage of the strong level of competition he expects to face in the highly competitive category, won in 2011 by Jean-Michel Raoux following a dramatic final round title decider in Cyprus last November.

“It’s an honour to participate in the IRC series this season,” said Catania, whose last IRC appearance was in Sardinia in 2010. “We like gravel rallies and in this season the IRC has more gravel events than last year. We will try to fight for the IRC 2WD Cup and will definitely do five or six events of the IRC series.”

Catania will pilot a Citroen DS3 R3T prepared by the BP Racing Team starting from SATA Rallye Acores later this month. Youngster Fabio Salis will co-drive.
