John Filippi is ready to battle for WTCC Trophy success following his pre-season testing crash in Italy earlier this month.

Filippi’s preparations for the upcoming FIA World Touring Car Championship campaign suffered a setback when he crashed heavily at Vallelunga on 2 March following a mechanical failure.

With his Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 fully repaired, the 21-year-old from Corsica spent last Friday at Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona shaking down the Campos Racing-run car.

Campos Racing General Manager Ruben Espin said: “The shakedown was targeting only to achieve driver confidence after the Vallelunga crash because I didn’t want that John arrives at Paul Ricard with the last reminder of the Vallelunga crash. Of course we also check the car and engine are okay and all was fine. There were no big set-up changes.”
