In today’s first race at Macau, Tiago Monteiro and the Honda Racing Team JAS celebrated their first podium finish since they have joined WTCC one month ago at Suzuka.
And beside the third place itself, to which Monteiro added a fourth in the second race, the Honda Civic showed an impressive pace that enabled Monteiro to stay close behind the three Chevrolet Cruze works cars.
The Portuguese driver commented: “We started this project only a few months ago and everybody has worked hard since then. I think it was a great decision from Honda to join in these three events in preparation of the 2013 season. The evolution has been really quick and strong, race after race. To be here on the podium it was a big surprise. The car was great and it was fantastic to be able to stay close behind the Chevrolet works cars. I’m over the moon, really!”
