Patrik Flodin insists he’ll be fit to fight for a top-five finish on Barum Czech Rally Zlín, round nine of the 2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge this week, despite breaking a finger in his right hand recently.
Flodin, who was forced to miss Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse with a broken collarbone, suffered his latest injury while training for the asphalt event, four stages of which will be shown live on Eurosport and Czech TV.
“It happened directly after the Sibiu Rally,” said Swede Flodin, who finished second on the gravel event in his Petter Solberg Engineering M-Sport Ford Fiesta S2000. “It was a training programme for the Swedish federation and we were boxing when it happened. My hand has been out of a cast for two weeks. I might have some pain when I am driving and using the handbrake but it won’t be a problem.”
Barum Czech Rally Zlín gets underway with a special stage through the host city on Friday night.
