Patrik Flodin has been tipped for a podium finish on Rally San Marino, round seven of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Mike Patterson, boss of Hankook Motorsports, one of Flodin’s key partners, reckons the Swede’s ability on gravel will mark him out as a contender for a top three finish when the event finishes on Saturday evening.

“It’s Patrik’s favoured surface and we’re optimistic for a podium,” said Patterson. “We not going to go as far as saying he can win but we’re optimistic of a good result, although we always have to remember this is the IRC and the competition is very strong.”

Flodin began his IRC campaign with Petter Solberg Engineering with an impressive fifth place on the Geko Ypres Rally in Belgium last month. Rally San Marino is the second of a planned seven-round campaign.
