The 2009-2010 GP2 Asia Series wraps up this week in Bahrain on the new Sakhir layout and alongside the first Formula One Grand Prix of the 2010 season. While F1 will be celebrating its sixtieth anniversary, GP2 Asia will be saying goodbye to the GP2 Series first generation car. This chassis debuted back in 2005 in Imola and was the instrument of Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Timo Glock’s success in the category. But after three seasons in the European Series and another three in the Asia Series, it’s time to bid farewell to this machine.

With Davide Valsecchi and iSport International taking the title crown two weeks ago, also in Bahrain but on the old layout, honorary places are still up for grabs. DPR’s Giacomo Ricci is currently in the best position to claim second place in the drivers’ standings following two strong results for the Italian in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, but iSport’s race winner Oliver Turvey along with podium finisher Luca Filippi at Meritus and Arden’s Javier Villa are close behind and ready to claim second and third places.

This week, three drivers come back to the field: Luiz Razia takes the wheel at Rapax, Rodolfo Gonzalez replaces Sergio Perez at Barwa Addax Team and Dani Clos rejoins Trident Racing for the final round.

The action will start this Friday with Free Practice at 11:55 am local time.

Schedule
 Friday 12th March, 11:55 – Free Practice Session 16:00 – Qualifying Session
 Saturday 13th March, 15:45 – Feature Race
 Sunday 14th March, 10:50 – Sprint Race
