Hermann Gassner Jr said he felt a sense of satisfaction after marking his debut on Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse by scoring Intercontinental Rally Challenge points for a second time this season.

The Red Bull Team youngster finished ninth on the demanding asphalt event, which took place on the picturesque Mediterranean island from 9-12 May.

“It was a tough rally but I learned a lot and I was satisfied to be at the finish,” said the German, who was at the wheel of a Baumschlager Rallye & Racing-prepared ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000. “After my puncture [on day one] I had nothing to do with the overall classification and I didn’t want to push at 100 per cent and risk losing the car. But we moved forward and had a good result on an event where you really need experience to do well. Hopefully we can have a better result now on the next rally.”

Gassner Jr, who is co-driven by fellow German Klaus Wicha, is currently 10th overall in the IRC standings.
